The title of this post sounds like a threat, doesn’t it? It is not. It is just a fact.
Today I want to discuss a concept that most people have not yet realized. People truly believe that they are going to decide something later. Soon. One day. Definitely sometime in the future.
Maybe it is when they will get married. Maybe it is when they are going to start having children. It could be making a decision to begin their Faith Journey, to change their career, or to start working out.
Well, if that is you, I have what may be a new concept for you:
You have ALREADY MADE A DECISION. That’s right, you do not have to wait to make any of those decisions, because you have already made them.
You see, you made the Decision NOT TO DECIDE.
When you have in front of you a thought about possibly changing careers, as an example, in that moment you made a decision. You either MADE THE DECISION to start doing something about it (like signing up for a class in your desired new field, or updating your resume), or you MADE THE DECISION to do nothing. Either way, you made a decision. You see…
…no decision IS a decision.
The only true question is WHICH DECISION will you make?
Once I realized this truth about life, I started making decisions to take Action a lot sooner. I discovered that not making a decision lead me to procrastination, which lead to depression and unrest. I discovered that I did not like myself when I allowed myself to go through life just “floating along”, instead of standing up, making decisions, and taking action toward my dreams.
Where are you? Are you making decisions as choices come up, or are you postponing them? If you are like I used to be, I suggest that you DECIDE TODAY to start making decisions to take action sooner.
One last tip: it is OK to say “no.” Sometimes the best decision you will make in your life is to say no…
– to people who are hurting you in some way.
– to a career that you hate.
– to habits that are keeping you from becoming the best you.
– to society, to bad influences, to a family history that does not represent who you want to become.
Decide today…to start Deciding sooner.
I believe that you will love the new you as a result.
