Sometimes Wisdom comes to you from places you do NOT expect. Sometimes Wisdom comes to you from places you DO expect.

Rarely do you get BOTH on the same weekend.

Last Saturday our daughter’s orthodontist sponsored a free movie for his patients. One of the movie trailers was for an upcoming Disney movie entitled Christopher Robin. In one clip, Christopher Robin and Winnie the Pooh were searching for Pooh’s old friends. Christopher Robin says, “I wonder which way?” The wise old bear replies:

“I always get to where I’m going by walking away from where I’ve been.”

On Sunday I went to a new church that is forming in Antioch, Tennessee called NewPath Community. During his teaching, the lead pastor, Brian Densmore, said this:

“You are only as strong as what you tolerate.”

The more I thought about what both Pooh and Brian said, the more I came to understand how they are related (the comments, not Pooh and Brian).

Are you stuck in life? Is your Faith Walk in a rut? Is your marriage blah and boring? Is your relationship with your children lacking substance? Well, to paraphrase Pooh, maybe you should consider “walking away from where you have been.” Maybe you need to look at all of those relationships with new eyes. It may very well be time for a new approach.  (Maybe you should come check out NewPath Community.)

The late Jim Rohn once famously said, “For things to change, YOU have to change. For things to get better, YOU have to get better.”

What are YOU tolerating in life? Is it really OK with you to have a boring marriage? If not, here is an idea: talk about it with your spouse. Honestly. If you two cannot “get on the same page” about how to improve your marriage, be wise enough to seek help. Feeling bad or guilty about going to a Marriage Counselor when needed is about as stupid as feeling bad or guilty about going to an automotive shop to get an oil change when one is needed.

Are you going through your life without Purpose? Without Passion? Why? I would encourage you to seek God’s Plan for your life. After all, He made you. Do you honestly believe that someone else – especially you yourself – will have better input to help you for the remainder of your life here on Earth?

Maybe it is time for you to listen to the Wisdom of Winnie the Pooh. Maybe it is time for you to listen to the Wisdom of my friend Brian.

Maybe it is time for you to listen to the Wisdom of BOTH

…and then quit tolerating things in your life, and walk away from things in your life that are holding you back from living the life that God has for you.

You can do it. I believe in you!
