How enthusiastic are you?
No, I do not mean being falsely chipper, nor do I want you to wear a fake smile all the time. I mean truly, deeply enthusiastic. Just for clarity, here is the definition of Enthusiasm:
“absorbing or controlling possession of the mind by any interest or pursuit; lively interest” – or
“an occupation, activity, or pursuit in which such interest is shown.”
So, when I say “enthusiastic”, I mean is your business (or job) – the vehicle by which you could possibly achieve all your dreams – “absorbing or controlling possession of your mind”? That does not mean being brainwashed. It means is your career Front-of-Mind throughout your day? People who are enthusiastic are positive, upbeat people because they are focusing on their possibilities – not on their challenges.
What are you doing to keep your future Front-of-Mind? I know from my Network Marketing days, if I did not do something to keep my business – my dreams – in front of me, I would quickly fall back into my rut (my ordinary way of life, going through the motions of work and home life). I had to put pictures of my motivators in a lot of places to see all throughout the day. There were many times when I would tape my next business goal to my steering wheel. I would write my goals on the bathroom mirror. I would have a note that meant something important to me (that others, if they saw it, would not understand) at my desk at work. I would put a post-it note on the TV remote, as well as a bigger one next to the TV , so that when I sat down to watch a show, I would remind myself that I needed to limit my TV time, and instead focus more on building my future.
I would challenge you right now to stop reading this post for a few minutes, and come up with at least 2 ways to do this yourself. As a matter of fact, I would like you to comment on this post, and tell me what you have decided to start doing to keep your career – and the resulting dreams and rewards – Front-of-Mind. I wonder just how many people will actually do this? I know those of you who are serious about succeeding in life will do it.
