“You are never too old to set another goal or to dream a new dream.” – C.S. Lewis

Do you believe that? I hope so, because (1) it is true, and (2) if you do not, I feel sorry for you. It is as Claude Bristol said in “The Magic of Believing”:

“The secret of success lies not without, but within, the thoughts of man…What you exhibit outwardly, you are inwardly. You are the product of your own thought. What you believe yourself to be, you are.”

So,what do you believe about yourself? Do you believe that you are too old to dream a new dream? That the world is out to get you? That you are doomed to failure, because “the man”, the government, your boss, your spouse, or your upbringing is holding you back from success?

If you believe that, you are right.

If you do not, you are also right.

What you believe about who you are, and who you can become, will in the end determine who you actually do become. You see, you will take action – real, consistent, sometimes hard action – only when you really know that you believe in you and your chance of success. When you lack such belief, you will find yourself becoming complacent – even lazy – about your Dreams. You will find every excuse in the world to procrastinate. That reminds me of a joke I heard years ago:

“Hey, neighbor, can I borrow your saw?”
“No. I have to make a ham sandwich.”
“What does that have to do with my borrowing your saw?”
“Nothing, but if I don’t want you to borrow my saw, any excuse
will do!”

That’s right: any excuse will do.

I have heard many people say, “You can make money, or you can make excuses – but you cannot make both at the same time!”

It is time for you to Dream a New Dream. It is time to start believing in YOURSELF. You were made for greatness.

Believe it!
