Good morning, everyone. I hope that all of you with a “significant other” in your life are fully prepared for Valentine’s Day tomorrow! I know that many of you with part-time businesses are building your business in order to spend more time with him or her. I can tell you from personal experience that there is nothing as sweet as being able to spend as much time as I want with my wife and daughters. That was made possible by building our Network Marketing business. Trust me: it may be challenging, but the rewards are WORTH it!
Today I want to spend a little time talking about the importance of Words. I loved it every time when I heard the late Zig Ziglar give this comparison:
– Example A: A young man looks longingly into his gal’s eyes and says, “When I look at you, time stands still.”
– Example B: The same young man instead says, “Your face could stop a clock!”
Both sentences convey the same literal message, but have opposite effects. The words we choose to say really DO matter, so we need to be aware of this fact, and change our words accordingly.
I discussed the following example in a recent post, but it is worthy of repeating. Let’s say you have been in your part-time business for two years, without a lot of success so far. You attend a local event one night, and someone’s prospect (yours or someone else’s) approaches you and asks you how long you have been in business. You could say, “Two years.” If they proceed to ask you what your Rank is, or how much money you have made so far, your answer will very possibly de-motivate them.
Instead of saying, “Two years.” I would suggest saying something like, “I have been in business for two years, but I have just recently decided to treat this seriously.” (Only say this if it is true for you, of course.) By saying these words, you are conveying an entirely more upbeat appearance to the prospect – while still giving a truthful answer.
Starting today, decide to choose your words carefully. Whenever possible, choose uplifting, positive, hopeful words. Both the people with whom you speak, and your subconscious mind, will be grateful. Go out and love on others by blessing them with your words of inspiration.
