Let’s talk some today about Friendship. Real Friendship, that is – not like your Facebook “friends.” The journey that you are on – following your dreams, overcoming your obstacles, becoming the best version of you possible – will have its ups and downs. True Friends will become more and more meaningful the further down the path you go. You will want to share your victories with Real Friends. You will want to share your challenges with Real Friends. If you have no one with whom you can be yourself in these areas, your journey will be long and lonely. With True Friends, however, the good times seem even sweeter, and the difficult times do not seem so gloomy.
John Maxwell once said, “False friends are like shadows, keeping close to us while we walk in the sunshine, but leaving us when we cross into the shade, but Real Friends stick with us when trouble comes.”
I am sure that you have heard this before, but the best way to get a friend is to be a friend. Real Friendship takes time. It takes a lot of listening – without judgment. It takes Wisdom, in order to give good advice – and only when someone asks for it!
I have found some of my Real Friends in the Network Marketing industry. There was just something about meeting someone else who was traveling along a similar path in life as I was. There was not as much explanation needed when we spoke. Understanding came more quickly, and more naturally. Real Friends are there to pick up and encourage one another along this sometimes slippery path called Life.
Go out this week and be a friend to others. In return, you may very well meet a new friend or two. Who knows? Maybe the friends you meet this week could end up becoming Real Friends of yours for the rest of your life!
