I want to talk about the word Team. It means different things to different people. I know that the word has been overused the last decade or so in business: “Teamwork makes the Dream work”, “She is such a Team Player”, etc.
In the Network Marketing industry, however, TEAM can be an acronym for Together Everyone Achieves More. You see, when you, your sponsor, your upline, your personal group, and the other distributors in your area that are not even a part of your personal business all work together to help everyone win, YOU win. You should never feel defensive or threatened by someone else talking to your prospect at an event. In fact, you should feel encouraged that someone else is taking their time to speak to your guest, because most prospects will actually listen MORE to someone else than they will to you. This is especially true for those who have known you for a long time. I know this seems backwards, but that is just human nature. Sometimes we are too close for a prospect to hear truly what we are saying; but if somebody else – especially someone you edify, build up – speaks to them, it comes across with more authority, as it comes “at arm’s length.”
All of us should be uplifting and encouraging to everyone with whom we speak. This is particularly true at an event where there are guests. When you take your time to go speak to someone else’s guest; greet them warmly, and; then edify the person who invited them to the event, that helps the whole Team. I know sometimes it can be hard to do that when you are going through a “dry spell” yourself. Just know that the day will come when someone else will do the same for you when you have guests at future events.
How great will it be when all of you reading this have thousands of people on YOUR Team? It has to start somewhere, and sometime. So, how about letting it start with you right now? Start this week making it a priority to put Team over Self.
It always pays off over time.
