John Wayne once said:

“COURAGE is being scared to death…and saddling up anyway.”

Are you courageous? Have you ever been “scared to death”, but did the thing anyway? If so, good. If not, today would be a great day to decide to “saddle up anyway.”

What is holding you back? Is it Fear of Failure? Fear of Rejection? Fear of People (or, more accurately, Fear of what other people will think)?

I was scared to author a book. My career prior to being an author was mainly comprised of various professional and managerial jobs: accounting, banking, and entrepreneur. What made me think I had anything of value to put in a book?

It was thoughts like this that kept me from writing a book for a long time. I have since discovered that many aspiring professional speakers (like myself) suffer from what the industry calls “Imposter Syndrome.” Will people (who read my book, or who hear me speak) truly receive anything of value from what I have to say?

Guess what? Some WILL, and some WILL NOT. I had to come to grips with that. I had to decide that was okay. I wrote the book – and continue to speak to audiences – for those who are looking to receive the information I am dispensing. Some folks are in a place in life where my words will help them. Others may not be – but they may be later. Even if they never are in need of my words, they may know someone who is.

Let’s get back to you. If you are waiting for someone, or something, to come along in your life to move you to do what it is you fear (but that you are lead to do), here is my advice to you:

SADDLE UP!

Quit waiting for your life to get perfect first. It never will.

Quit waiting to get all your ducks in a row. They never will.

Quit making excuses. After all, there are only two types of people in the world: those who make excuses, and those who make a difference.

Which one do you want to become, starting today?

Now go get on your horse, and go make a difference in this world. You can do it. I believe in you.
