GROWTH.

Every living thing on this planet is in one of two conditions at all times: they are either Growing, or they are Dying. I have a question for you:

Are you Growing?

As my club’s Toastmaster at our event last week, I decided that the theme would be “Growth.” In that context, I was mainly emphasizing the need for our club – as it is for all clubs – to continue to grow. In any organization, club or business, people come and people go. If you are not continuing to make an effort to grow, you will wake up one day and realize that your group has dwindled. It has lost momentum.

I know from my network marketing days that, by the time you come to this realization, it takes a LONG TIME to reverse field. You have to put in twice the effort (1) to stop the attrition, and (2) to replace the ones who have left.

Now let’s go back to my question. Are YOU growing? I am talking about in all areas of life: Faith, Relationships, Money, Career and Health.

The biggest challenge I hear from people is that they THINK they are staying “status quo.” In other words, they readily admit that they are not growing but, hey, that is fine because, after all, they are not getting any worse. They are just “continuing to pump the pump”, “keeping their heads above water”, or “keepin’ on keepin’ on.”

Wrong answer.

You see, like I said earlier, all living things on Earth are either growing or dying. There is NO SUCH THING as “status quo.” If you are not growing, you are dying.

– If your marriage is not growing, it is dying.

– If you are not growing in your Faith Walk, it is dying.

– If you are not making a consistent effort to make your dreams come true in life, guess what?

                               Your dreams are dying, too.

On a very personal note, I have a close relative with whom I had a discussion a few months ago. I told him that I would greatly appreciate referrals to people who put on training events for their company or industry. He said that he was done with those things – forever. He said he had no interest in attending any such event (where he could continue to GROW personally or professionally) ever again. How sad. How very, very sad.

I hope you will never come to the same decision. If you have already, it is not too late to change your mind. It is never too late to make the conscious decision to continue to Grow.

That is, unless you are ready to Die.

The choice is yours. I hope you choose to Keep Growing.
