There are three Levels of Maturity in life. I know that many people have spoken on this topic before, but most of what I have read has dealt with a specific area of technology or business, or with psychology. What I want to discuss is what ALL people need to understand, so that they can see where their own level of maturity is today, and to see how they can improve.
I will add here that you may very well need someone to help you with your analysis. Many times we “cannot see the forest for the trees.” I would encourage you to choose someone who knows you well…and loves you anyway. Someone who loves you enough to tell you the TRUTH. Here are the levels:
1 – “I need some help.”
Until you can say these words – and mean them – you are immature. I know, some of you are saying something like, “I don’t need no stinkin’ help!” Maybe you don’t – now. But if you have never said these words, I feel confident that you might need to get a second opinion.
Once you have been able to say that you need some help – and meant it – hopefully you will find the resources that you need in order to improve in that area of life. Keep improving over time, and one day you will truly be able to say…
2 – “I’ve got this.”
Taking personal responsibility is a trait that many people are missing today. They want to blame someone or something for their lack of success in life. Though it is a mature thing to say (and mean) “I’ve got this”, it really will not do you any good if you do not follow your words with action. Continue to take consistent action over time, and one day you will be able to say…
3 – “How may I serve you?”
Only when you have gone through Levels 1 and 2 can you be at your best to serve others. Don’t get me wrong: you can serve people in many areas well before you go through the first 2 Levels. It is just that the best servants I have ever encountered have all gone through Levels 1 and 2. As a result, they have both HUMILITY and PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY in that area of life.
What Level of Maturity have you reached…
– in your Faith walk?
– in your Relationships?
– in your Money management?
– in your Career?
– in your Health?
(If you would like some help in this area, I truly believe that my book may be able to bless you.)
